Sylvester Stallone is accused of stealing script for "The Expendable"

Sylvester Stallone, nickname Sly Stallone, an American actor, filmmaker, screenwriter, film director and occasional painter, mostly known for his machismo and Hollywood action roles, is accused of stealing the screenplay for his action movie "The Expendable."

The lawsuit claims that the plot is "strikingly similar and in some places identical" to another script, "The Cordoba Caper," the screenplay which was finished and copyrighted in 2006. The lawsuit was filed in Manhattan federal court on Tuesday by writer Marcus Webb Webb says his screenplay tells “the story of a team of elite, highly trained mercenaries hired to defeat General Garza, a rogue army general of a small Latin American country.” The villain in Stallone’s film was also named General Garza, and Webb claims there were also several more unusual similarities between his script and Stallone’s film. Stallone's publicist, Michelle Bega, did not respond to the request to comment about it.

“The Expendables,” which was produced by Millennium and Nu Image and distributed by Lions Gate, was released worldwide on August 13, 2010. The movie featured an all-star action cast, including Jet Li, Jason Statham, and Dolph Lundgren, as well as a cameo from Arnold Schwarzenegger. The film's sequel "The Expendables 2" is set for release on August 17, 2012.
